Essex · Homes & Small Businesses
Friendly IT help that comes to you.
Computer playing up? Wi-Fi crawling? New laptop still in the box? Send a message and it gets sorted — at your home, at your business, remotely, or collected and returned. No jargon, no callout fee.
What I can help with
One person for all your tech headaches
Whether it's a slow PC, a virus scare, or a smart TV that won't behave — if it plugs in or connects, it's probably on this list.
PC & laptop repairs
Won't start, running slow, strange noises, broken bits — diagnosed and fixed, Windows or Mac.
Virus & malware removal
Pop-ups, scams, hijacked browsers and dodgy toolbars removed — and protection set up properly.
Wi-Fi & networking
Dead spots, dropouts and "it's slow upstairs" — sorted with the right setup for your home or office.
New device setup
New PC, Mac, phone or tablet set up, your files and photos moved over, everything working before I leave.
Backups & data recovery
Rescue files from misbehaving drives and set up automatic backups so you never sweat it again.
Speed upgrades
An SSD or extra memory can make an old computer feel new again — for far less than replacing it.
Smart home & TV
Smart TVs, streaming sticks, video doorbells, speakers — connected, updated and actually working.
Email problems
Can't send, can't receive, locked out, or moving to a new address — untangled on all your devices.
Phone & tablet help
Storage full, photos everywhere, apps misbehaving — iPhone, iPad or Android made simple again.
One-to-one tuition
Patient, friendly lessons at your own pace — video calls, online shopping, photos, staying safe online.
Small business IT
Ongoing support for shops, trades and offices — without the cost of an in-house IT department.
Remote support
Many problems can be fixed the same day over a secure remote session — no visit needed.
Being upfront: I don't repair printers, and I don't offer lab-grade recovery from physically failed drives (that needs a clean-room facility). If that's what you need, I'll happily point you in the right direction.
How it works
Three steps, zero fuss
Getting help shouldn't be another headache.
Send a message
WhatsApp is quickest — describe the problem in your own words, photos welcome. Or call, or email.
We agree a plan
A time that suits you — a visit, a remote session, or I collect the machine and return it fixed. Fully flexible hours.
It gets fixed
Explained in plain English, priced by the minute after the first half hour — and if I can't fix it, you don't pay.
Honest pricing, by the minute
No callout fee, no VAT on top, no rounding up to the next hour. You pay for the time your problem actually takes — and if I can't fix it, you pay nothing.
Billed by the minute after the first half hour. Parts, if needed, are quoted and agreed before any work. Full terms in the service agreement.

About
The one tech person you actually need
I'm George, and I've spent around twenty years fixing, building and untangling technology — for big companies and, more enjoyably, for real people in their homes.
I started Maxim IT Support because most people don't need a call centre or a computer shop counter. They need someone patient who turns up, listens, explains things without the jargon, and gets it working.
Every visit comes with the same promise: plain English, honest pricing, and no fee if I can't fix it.
Before any work starts, you'll be asked to read and agree to a short service agreement — it covers pricing, the No Fix – No Fee policy, and the importance of backing up your data. It takes two minutes and can be agreed online, no printing needed.

Quick answers before you ask
How much does a computer repair callout cost in Essex?
Nothing to come out — there's no callout fee. The first 30 minutes cost £42.50 (the minimum charge), the first full hour is £85, and after that it's £60 per hour billed by the minute. There's no VAT on top, and if I can't fix your problem, you pay nothing at all.
Which areas do you cover for home visits?
I visit homes and small businesses in Chelmsford, Colchester, Braintree, Southend-on-Sea, Brentwood, Canvey Island, Harlow and North-East London. If you're a little outside those areas, message me anyway — it can often be arranged. Remote support is available anywhere in the UK.
What does "No fix — no fee" actually mean?
Exactly what it says: if I can't fix your problem, you don't pay for my time. You only ever pay when the job is done.
Do you fix both Windows PCs and Apple Macs?
Yes — I'm certified by both Apple and Microsoft, and I work on Windows PCs, laptops, MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones, iPads and Android devices.
Can you fix my computer remotely, without a visit?
Very often, yes. Many software problems — slow computers, email trouble, virus scares, settings gone wrong — can be fixed the same day over a secure remote session, anywhere in the UK. If it turns out to need hands-on work, we'll arrange a visit or collection instead.
Do you repair printers or recover data from dead hard drives?
Being upfront: no. I don't repair printers, and physically failed drives need a clean-room facility that no callout service can honestly offer. In both cases I'll happily point you towards the right specialist. Recovering files from a misbehaving-but-alive drive, though, is absolutely something I do.
Are you safe to have in my home?
I'm DBS checked (with the update service), fully identifiable, and you'll always know who's coming — it's just me, George. Many of my customers are older people who want patient, friendly help without jargon.
